Abstract:
With the advent of interventional cardiology service in Ethiopia, there is increasing number of pacemaker pocket infection. In principle, pacemaker pocket infection shoud be managed with explantation of the generator and the leads as well. Then the patient will be kept on temporary pacing until the infection settles down. Re-implanting a new pacemaker is quite costly. So I came up with economically sound solution which will bail out the patient. I will take you through how we do the debridement and use custom made vaccum dressing that will expedite the process of wound healing and save the patient from unnecessary expenditure until the generator got drained out. I feel that this procedure is reproducible and applicable for those interventional cardiologists who implant different devices and face infections.
