Title : Reduced time-to-diagnosis and time-to-treatment for patients presenting with dyspnea or shortness of breath through use of AI-driven cardiac diagnostics for use at point-of-care.

Abstract:

Dyspnea, characterized by abnormal or uncomfortable breathing, is a common symptom encountered in primary care and often indicates underlying cardiac or pulmonary conditions. However, the diagnostic pathway for dyspnea patients is often convoluted, involving multiple referrals and leading to delays in diagnosis and treatment initiation.

Cardiac causes of dyspnea include various conditions such as congestive heart failure, coronary artery disease, and arrhythmias. These conditions, along with mixed cardiac and pulmonary disorders, highlight the complexity of dyspnea presentations in primary care, delaying diagnosis.

Heart failure (HF) is a particularly pressing issue, with a significant portion of patients being diagnosed only during hospital admissions despite prior presentations to primary care, often with symptoms. This delay in diagnosis underscores the critical need for timely interventions to impede disease progression and improve patient outcomes.

The interaction between cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases further complicates and delays the diagnostic process, emphasizing the importance of timely testing and early diagnosis.

To address these challenges, our device focuses on integrating AI-driven point-of-care cardiac diagnostics into primary care settings. These innovations offer rapid, non-invasive results and leverage existing workforce skills, substituting the need for specialists yet enhancing the capabilities of primary care. By combining multiple diagnostic modalities, such as ECG and Echocardiography and auscultation for cardiac issues, we aim to empower healthcare providers to promptly address CVD issues at the point of care, facilitating timely diagnoses and treatment pathway decisions for patients, including those with dyspnea.

Specifically, the utilization of Cardio-HART in primary care, immediately addresses the main risk to the patient, and offers significant benefits, including the reduction of unnecessary echocardiograms and the minimization of false negatives that overwhelmingly result in a visit to the Emergency Department, ultimately improving patient outcomes and reducing healthcare costs. By streamlining diagnostic processes and enhancing access to care, our device seeks to optimize healthcare delivery, ensuring equitable and timely access to diagnostic services and improving patient satisfaction.

Audience Take Away

The use of Cardio-HART to confirm or exclude cardiovascular diseases is crucial in contemporary medical practice. As a cutting-edge diagnostic device, Cardio-HART enables precise and rapid detection of cardiovascular diseases in patients, including valve diseases and heart failure. Through Cardio-HART, physicians can establish a reliable diagnosis, including the severity of the condition, and make informed decisions regarding patient treatment and management. By ruling in or ruling out cardiovascular diseases, Cardio-HART enhances the efficiency of medical care, offering significant benefits for both patients and healthcare professionals.
