The APN functions as the patient advocate, the care facilitator and the optimizer of the patient’s hospital journey and experience.
Areas of practice:
- Advanced knowledge and experience in the management of implanted cardiac devices, optimizing their function, enabling the patient to live their best life with their device.
- Monitoring Cardiac rhythms and interpretation of arrhythmias.
- Management of special anti-arrhythmic drugs.
- Managing patient care, collaborating with other physicians and specialists in the day-to-day clinical management of arrhythmia patients.
- Teaching patients about their condition, procedures, primary prevention, giving emotional and psychological support.
- Providing education and training for other caregivers of arrhythmia patients.
